Fat Bear Week 2026 is underway at Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska, with 16 bears competing for public votes. The annual contest invites fans to choose among some of the park’s chunkiest bears.
For the first time, participants can also vote for entire bear families, according to Alaska Public Media. CBS News reported that voting drew enough early interest to “break the internet.”
