Ed Sheeran’s two concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, were canceled because of severe weather forecast across New England, according to the tour promoter and multiple news outlets.
The shows had been scheduled for Friday and Saturday as part of Sheeran’s Loop tour. Messina Touring said it made the decision after consulting local officials, citing the safety of fans, staff and others involved in the concerts.
Ticketmaster is allowing ticket holders to obtain refunds. Before the cancellation announcement, several Massachusetts outlets reported that refunds had been made available after the state attorney general intervened, with requests required at least 24 hours before the relevant show time. Following the cancellations, stadium owner Robert Kraft told TMZ that refunds were immediately available.
The concerts had also drawn attention because rapper Macklemore was removed as a supporting act after making pro-Palestinian comments during an earlier tour stop. Sheeran said the promoter, rather than he, made that decision. Other supporting performers subsequently withdrew from the tour. The promoter attributed the Gillette cancellations to the weather warnings.
