Nikon unveils compact Z5 IIC full-frame camera without a viewfinder

Nikon has introduced the Z5 IIC, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera that removes the Z5 II's electronic viewfinder and several other features. The body is priced at $1,399.95, $450 less than the Z5 II’s starting price.
The Z5 IIC retains a 24.5-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED 7 processor and in-body image stabilization rated for up to 7.5 stops. Its subject-detection autofocus recognizes people, animals, birds, vehicles and fish. The camera weighs 537 grams and includes a fully articulating 3.2-inch touchscreen with 1.04 million dots.
For video, Engadget reports that it records 4K footage at up to 30 frames per second that supersamples from the full 6K sensor width, or 4K at 60 fps with a 1.5x crop. It supports video in Nikon's N-RAW format with N-Log, along with H.265, and includes creator-focused tools such as a front recording light, product-review mode, waveform display, focus peaking and zebra patterns.
The camera can capture JPEG images at up to 30 fps with its electronic shutter. Engadget reports bursts of up to 14 fps with continuous autofocus, while The Verge says its mechanical shutter reaches 15 fps in JPEG mode. Compared with the Z5 II, the Z5 IIC also drops the autofocus joystick and reduces two memory-card slots to one UHS-II SD slot.
