Microsoft will release a redesigned Surface Mouse on October 13 for $79.99, adding haptic feedback, a customizable action button and support for pairing with as many as three devices over Bluetooth 6.0.
The action button is designed primarily for quick access to Copilot but can be assigned to other shortcuts through Microsoft’s Surface app. The mouse’s haptic system provides tactile responses for actions including clicks, dragging, window snapping and object alignment in Windows 11. According to The Verge, feedback also works in applications including PowerPoint, Affinity, Concepts and Filmora.
Microsoft has also updated the design with a soft-touch upper surface intended to improve comfort during extended use. The second-generation model is the first update to the Surface Mouse since its introduction in 2016 and will be sold in black and platinum.
The mouse will arrive alongside refreshed 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop computers. Reports from 9to5Google and Tom’s Hardware say the new systems use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus platform, while 9to5Google reports that the Surface Pro will also offer 5G connectivity.
