Taylor Swift will debut the music video for her new single, “Patient Zero,” during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 27. A 13-second preview aired Thursday on “CBS Mornings,” showing actors Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, who appear in the video.
The video’s cinematography was handled by Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezski, according to CBS News. Swift announced the single earlier this week, writing on social media that she had been “impatiently waiting” to share the news. The song is scheduled for release Friday.
Also arriving Friday is “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” a deluxe version of Swift’s latest album that adds four songs.
At the VMAs, Swift is set to receive the ceremony’s inaugural Artist Director Honors. Organizers said the award recognizes artists “whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling.” CBS News reported that the honor will make Swift the VMAs’ most-awarded artist, breaking her tie with Beyoncé. Swift is also nominated in 11 categories this year.
The ceremony will air on CBS and MTV beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and stream on Paramount+.
