Xiaomi has launched the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China, with a global release planned for later this year. Prices start at 5,999 yuan for the 18 Pro and 6,999 yuan for the Pro Max.
Both phones feature privacy-focused front displays designed to restrict viewing from off angles. The feature can be enabled for individual apps and applied to their notifications, split-screen views and floating windows without obscuring the rest of the display. It also supports location-based activation, while the front camera can detect potential onlookers and suggest turning privacy mode on.
The 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch LTPO AMOLED display and a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch panel and an 8,500mAh battery. Both displays offer a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, 2K resolution and peak brightness of 4,000 nits. The phones retain the smaller rear displays introduced with Xiaomi’s 17 Pro series, which can show notifications, assist with selfies and run simple apps.
The devices use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform, with the Pro Max receiving the higher-end version. Each has a rear camera system comprising a 200-megapixel main camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. They support 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse wireless charging.
