Russian and Ukrainian strikes left 10 people dead as the two countries intensified aerial attacks, ABC News reported. France 24 said Russian attacks killed at least four people across Ukraine on Saturday, while Al Jazeera reported that strikes hit several Ukrainian regions and forced the country’s largest steelmaker to halt operations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for tougher sanctions on Russia. U.S. President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said he hoped Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin would reach an agreement and “settle” their differences.
The latest attacks came amid an expanding campaign of long-range drone operations by both sides. A Kyiv Post analysis of open-source data estimated that Ukraine conducted about three times as many long-range drone strikes against Russia as Moscow launched against Ukraine during the 100 days from June 17 through Sept. 24. The analysis said Ukrainian records documented about 16,000 Russian drones launched during that period, while Russian official reports claimed 48,000 to 55,000 Ukrainian drones were intercepted or neutralized.
Kyiv Post cautioned that the underlying figures are incomplete and potentially distorted: Ukrainian defenses may not detect every Russian weapon, while Russian reports cover inconsistent time periods and may substantially overcount interceptions.
