Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the UN General Assembly on September 23 that Iran would not surrender to threats but remained open to talks aimed at ending hostilities with the United States, according to Opfor Journal. The outlet reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also held talks in New York with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
In a Fox News interview the following day, Pezeshkian said Iran was willing to end hostilities by returning to the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum. He also suggested that Tehran could negotiate an agreement to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and accept inspections, while deflecting questions about threats to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
Separately, Opfor Journal reported that Iran’s Basij paramilitary organization opened a military training facility in Tehran for civilian volunteers as part of an effort to establish new “national resistance battalions.”
