Newly released police bodycam footage shows officers approaching, searching and arresting Luigi Mangione at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 9, 2024, days after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was killed.
The footage, recorded from multiple officers’ cameras, captures police identifying Mangione inside the restaurant. In one clip, an officer says, “I’m 100% sure it’s him,” while another exclaims, “It’s f---king him,” according to reports from WTAJ and the New York Post.
Officers are then shown searching a backpack belonging to Mangione. The BBC reported that police found a gun magazine and later a gun inside the bag.
Mangione was arrested in connection with Thompson’s shooting death. The Guardian said its published video was edited together from footage recorded by multiple police body cameras during the encounter.
