PepsiCo has recalled about 122,000 cases of Gatorade distributed in 37 states because the beverages contain undeclared food dyes, according to a Food and Drug Administration notice.
The recall covers 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero. The products contain undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6, which are used to affect their color.
PepsiCo initiated the recall Sept. 25. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on Oct. 2, indicating that exposure may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
The affected cases were sold in Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
The FDA lists the recall under number H-0009-2027. PepsiCo had not immediately responded to CBS News when asked whether customers who purchased the recalled drinks would be eligible for refunds.
