Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison said Friday that the company formed by its planned merger with Warner Bros. Discovery will be named Skydance after the transaction closes. The merged company is expected to begin trading under the ticker “SKYD.”
Ellison said the corporate name would allow Paramount and Warner Bros. to remain distinct studios rather than subsuming either brand into a new identity. “Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling,” he wrote in a social media post.
Paramount Skydance said the merger is expected to close Tuesday after the companies settled a legal challenge brought by a group of state attorneys general. Ellison and outgoing Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz are set to serve as co-CEOs after closing.
The companies reached an agreement in February that valued the deal at roughly $110 billion on an enterprise basis. The transaction follows Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount, completed in August 2025. Skydance had previously produced films including “Top Gun: Maverick” and entries in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.
The Paramount and Warner Bros. studios are scheduled to release a combined 35 films next year, according to Rentrak data cited by CNBC.
