Ken Urker, the former fiancé of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and father of her daughter, died Thursday on his 34th birthday in Louisiana, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a residence in Raceland at about 6:15 p.m. and found Urker dead, Capt. Brennan Matherne of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office told CBS News. The sheriff’s office is investigating, and authorities have not confirmed a cause of death.
Blanchard told People that she believed Urker died from an overdose, a claim that has not been confirmed by police. She said his death came as a shock and described him as an “amazing father and a man who was deeply loved.” In public statements, she also said Urker had recently faced relentless online harassment and that the scrutiny had affected him profoundly.
Urker and Blanchard first connected while she was imprisoned for her role in the 2015 killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. They became engaged in 2018, later separated and rekindled their relationship after Blanchard’s release from prison. They shared a young daughter, Aurora.
Blanchard said she would ensure Aurora grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her.
