Skydance-owned Paramount completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on Tuesday, creating a combined media company named Skydance.
David Ellison, who leads Paramount Skydance, announced the new corporate identity ahead of the closing. He said the name would allow Paramount and Warner Bros. to remain distinct studios rather than having either brand overshadow the other. The combined company will trade under the ticker “SKYD.”
Ellison and outgoing Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz will serve as co-CEOs. The company brings Warner Bros., HBO Max, CNN and Discovery together with Paramount Pictures, CBS, Paramount+ and other entertainment properties. According to CNBC, the Paramount and Warner Bros. studios are scheduled to release a combined 35 films next year, citing Rentrak data.
The transaction valued Warner Bros. Discovery at $81 billion, while its enterprise value, including debt, was nearly $111 billion. Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery reached their merger agreement in February after a bidding contest that included Netflix. The deal later proceeded after the companies settled a legal challenge brought by a group of state attorneys general.
Ellison’s original Skydance production company acquired Paramount for $8 billion in August 2025. He began pursuing Warner Bros. Discovery weeks later.
