A High Court hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s legal challenge over search warrants executed after his arrest by Thames Valley Police, according to Sky News and The Indian Express.

Mountbatten-Windsor is seeking to challenge whether police lawfully obtained and executed warrants used to search his residence on the Sandringham estate and his former home, Royal Lodge. The searches followed his February 19 arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office over allegations that he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy. He was interviewed under caution and released under investigation. Police have said the investigation remains ongoing.

The hearing, due to begin privately before Justice Hilliard, will address an attempt by Thames Valley Police to restrict access to court documents, The Indian Express reported, citing an earlier Guardian report and a judicial spokesperson. It is unclear whether Mountbatten-Windsor will attend.

The Indian Express also reported that King Charles has warned Mountbatten-Windsor not to use an annual stipend from the king’s private funds to finance the judicial review. The amount of the stipend has not been disclosed. Palace sources cited in the report said the legal defence was a matter for Mountbatten-Windsor and his lawyers and that Buckingham Palace had no role in their strategy.

After the arrest, Charles said in a written statement that “the law must take its course.” Thames Valley Police declined further comment while the proceedings continue.
