Jaguar unveiled its Type 01 electric grand tourer in New York on Tuesday, presenting the first production model from its two-year brand overhaul and a push toward younger, wealthier buyers.
The four-door EV closely follows the polarising Type 00 concept, retaining its low roof, long bonnet and large wheels. At more than 5.2 metres long and 2 metres wide, it is too large for a standard UK parking space. It has no conventional rear window, instead using a rear-facing camera and interior display.
Jaguar says the Type 01’s three electric motors produce up to 1,016 horsepower and 1,365Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 62mph in 3.2 seconds. Its 118kWh battery is expected to provide up to 400 miles of range, while 350kW rapid charging can add about 200 miles in 13 minutes. The cabin includes leather and brass detailing, a 24-inch OLED driver display and smaller screens for climate, audio and seat controls.
Managing director Rawdon Glover said Jaguar designed the car for affluent, urban and technology-literate customers seeking a bold choice, rather than the brand’s traditional older customer base.
Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with initial deliveries in the second half of that year. The Guardian and Bloomberg reported a starting price of £130,000, while Jaguar has indicated that one US variant will cost $130,500. The company plans to delay the model’s launch in China for a couple of years as parent JLR initially focuses more heavily on North America.
