Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract to remain Arsenal manager through June 2030, the Premier League champions announced.
The 44-year-old Spaniard has managed Arsenal since replacing Unai Emery in December 2019. He guided the club to its first Premier League title in 22 years last season after three consecutive runner-up finishes. Arsenal also reached its first Champions League final in two decades, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” Arteta said. “We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
Arteta, a former Arsenal captain who ended his playing career at the club, won the FA Cup during his first season as manager and later returned Arsenal to the Champions League. He has recorded a 62.05% win rate across 361 matches, the best of any full-time manager in the club’s history.
The Irish Times and The Punch reported that Arteta’s coaching staff have also extended their deals. Arsenal co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke said they were proud of what the club and Arteta had achieved since his return in 2019.
Arsenal are second in the Premier League and host Leeds United on Saturday.
