Xbox has denied a report that *Grand Theft Auto VI* will be exclusive to Xbox Cloud Gaming for streaming or playable on PCs through the service at launch.
The Verge reported on Oct. 6 that Microsoft had secured exclusive cloud-streaming rights for the game, citing people familiar with the company’s plans. The report followed remarks attributed to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma during an employee meeting, where she reportedly said Microsoft was preparing something involving *GTA 6* that “no other platform holder is doing.” Several outlets subsequently reported that the arrangement could let PC users stream the console release through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball disputed those conclusions on X, saying excitement about the game had produced “some misreporting” and that it “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.” The Verge reporter later said the situation appeared more complicated than initially reported.
Ball’s statement does not clarify whether Xbox has obtained more limited cloud rights, such as permission to stream the game only to supported Xbox consoles. Neither Microsoft nor Rockstar Games has announced details of such an arrangement.
*Grand Theft Auto VI* is scheduled for release Nov. 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Rockstar has not announced a native PC edition.
