President Donald Trump announced Friday that conservative commentator and communications adviser Katie Zacharia will serve as the next White House press secretary, succeeding Karoline Leavitt, who left the administration in August.
In a Truth Social post, Trump described Zacharia as a “loyal and brilliant supporter” with an “unblemished record of support,” calling her a “devoted fan and member of MAGA.” He said she had assisted his campaigns in key swing states and expressed confidence that she would work effectively with the media, the public and his administration.
Zacharia thanked Trump in a post on X, calling the appointment “the honor of a lifetime.” She said she looked forward to working with the White House press corps and reporters around the country to communicate the administration’s record.
Zacharia is a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group and its Truth Social platform. Earlier in 2026, she briefly served as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. She previously worked in Republican politics, including internships with the Republican National Committee and the White House Office of Political Affairs during the George W. Bush administration. A lawyer and frequent guest on conservative television outlets, she has undergraduate and law degrees from Pepperdine University.
