President Donald Trump named Katie Zacharia, a lawyer and conservative commentator who advises Trump Media & Technology Group, as the next White House press secretary.
Trump said Sunday that Zacharia would begin the job Monday, Columbus Day, and hold an introductory news conference Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the White House briefing room. He had praised her Friday as a longtime, loyal supporter with an “unblemished record of support” and said she had assisted his campaigns in key swing states.
Zacharia succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who left the administration in late August. Zacharia said in a social media post that serving Trump and the American people was “the honor of a lifetime” and that she looked forward to working with the White House press corps and reporters nationwide.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Zacharia has served since June as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media, which owns Truth Social. She briefly worked as a Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman earlier in 2026 and serves as general counsel for Fix California, a conservative organization founded by Trump envoy Richard Grenell.
The 42-year-old California resident has appeared frequently on Fox News, Newsmax and other conservative outlets. She earned undergraduate and law degrees from Pepperdine University and previously worked in Republican politics, including as an intern for the Republican National Committee and in the White House Office of Political Affairs during the George W. Bush administration.
