Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei said Washington’s response to Tehran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz was insufficient and must be clarified before negotiations can proceed.

“The Americans have now responded to us,” Rezaei was quoted as saying by Iranian media on Sunday. “In their response, they have accepted some of our conditions, while others remain unclear.” He added that Iran was “no longer in the process of responding to the Americans” and that Washington must address the unresolved issues.

Iran presented seven conditions in a proposal conveyed during the UN General Assembly, offering to restore normal maritime passage through the strait within seven days if its demands were met. According to Middle East Eye, those demands include lifting the US naval blockade and removing restrictions on Iranian oil exports. Rezaei said the waterway would not be reopened to the United States and talks would not resume until the conditions were satisfied.

The US response was delivered through Qatari intermediaries, according to Reuters reporting republished by Rappler. President Donald Trump previously said he had rejected Iran’s proposal. The White House did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
