Two Pakistan Army pilots were killed on Monday when a Mushshak training aircraft crashed near Nawan Killi in Quetta, the military’s media wing said.
The Pakistan Army Aviation aircraft went down around midday on October 12 after developing a technical fault, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations. The pilots were identified as Major Husnain Shehzad Humayun, an instructor, and Captain Abdul Samad, a student pilot.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the deaths and offered condolences to the pilots’ families. Sharif said the nation honored their sacrifice and shared the families’ sorrow. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also offered condolences, saying the country stood with the bereaved families.
The crash followed other fatal military aviation accidents attributed to technical faults. In June, a Pakistan Army Aviation Mi-17 helicopter crashed during takeoff near Muzaffarabad, killing everyone aboard. An Army Aviation Mi-17 also crashed near Hudor village in Gilgit-Baltistan during a routine training flight in September 2025, killing five crew members, including two pilots.
