Israeli fire killed five Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over a 24-hour period, Gaza’s Health Ministry said Monday, including three people killed when an airstrike hit a tent in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis. The ministry said two others died from earlier wounds and 18 people were injured.
The Israeli military said it had targeted combatants in the area but provided no further details. Israel says Hamas has been rearming and carrying out attacks in violation of the October 2025 ceasefire. Hamas denies those allegations and accuses Israel of undermining the agreement.
Gaza health officials put the Palestinian death toll since the ceasefire at between 1,400 and 1,493. Israel says militants have killed four of its soldiers in Gaza during the same period. Negotiators have made little progress on provisions calling for Hamas to disarm, Israeli forces to withdraw and Gaza’s reconstruction to begin.
Separately, Der Spiegel published testimony from 10 Israeli soldiers who described troops killing unarmed Palestinians, classifying dead civilians as “terrorists” and destroying neighborhoods to prevent residents from returning, according to Middle East Eye. One reservist said his brigade killed 160 to 170 people during an deployment of more than 80 days and that only one was suspected of carrying a weapon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded a criminal investigation of soldiers who testified in the documentary “NAZA,” according to The Times of Israel.
