The Saudi-led coalition said Friday that it intercepted three drones over Riyadh and southern Saudi Arabia, two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and a ballistic missile over Yanbu, a port city at the end of a major oil pipeline.
The interceptions followed several days of attacks and counterstrikes. Saudi authorities said two Houthi missile attacks over Riyadh were intercepted earlier in the week, with falling debris injuring four people — two women, a man and a child — and damaging 15 homes. Saudi Arabia also reported a limited fire at Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran. The Energy Ministry said there were no casualties, while a company source told Reuters that a ballistic missile struck the upper floors of an office building.
On Thursday, the coalition said it destroyed a cruise missile over the western Madinah region but did not identify who launched it or its intended target. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree denied that the group had conducted any operation against Saudi territory that day.
The coalition also carried out strikes in Yemen. Houthi-run broadcaster Al Masirah said a fuel facility in Sanaa was targeted after the coalition alleged it was being used to store missiles and drones. The Yemeni Oil Company said the storage facilities were empty and that fuel supplies were unaffected.
The UN Security Council condemned the intensified Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and threats to commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.
