Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, was backordered into late January 2027 by Friday afternoon after pre-orders opened at 8 a.m. ET, according to CBS News. The device is scheduled to reach stores on October 23.
Estimated delivery dates slipped beyond launch day within minutes of orders opening on Apple’s website and Store app. Apple had not disclosed the number of pre-orders as of Friday afternoon. Analyst Dan Ives of Yorkville Ives described initial demand as running well ahead of supply and projected that Apple could sell about 10 million units over the next few quarters and as many as 25 million in 2027. Seeking Alpha separately reported that Apple increased iPhone Duo orders by 30%.
Prices begin at $1,999 for a model with 256GB of storage and rise to $3,199 for 2TB. The phone has a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner OLED display when unfolded. It supports split-screen use with two apps or two windows from the same website.
Ahead of pre-orders, Apple offered a “Get Ready” tool that allowed customers to select a color, storage capacity, carrier, trade-in option, payment method and shipping address. The available colors are Star White and Night Sky.
