The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 on Saturday night in Cleveland, evening the American League Championship Series at two games apiece.

Nick Martinez allowed one run and two hits over 5 1/3 innings to earn his first postseason victory. Cleveland went ahead in the first inning when Chase DeLauter drove in Steven Kwan, but Martinez then kept the Guardians without another hit during his outing.

Tampa Bay moved in front in the sixth when Junior Caminero doubled home Jonathan Aranda for a 2-1 lead. The Rays added three runs in the seventh after Richie Palacios and Taylor Walls singled and executed a double steal. Aranda’s single scored Palacios, and Walls also came home when the ball got past DeLauter in right field. Aranda advanced to third and scored on Chandler Simpson’s sacrifice fly.

Cleveland cut the deficit to 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh on Travis Bazzana’s first postseason home run and an RBI single by Brayan Rocchio. Yandy Díaz completed the scoring with a two-run homer in the ninth.

Aranda finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Díaz had two hits and two RBIs. The teams will play Game 5 in Cleveland on Sunday, with the series returning to St. Petersburg for Game 6 on Monday.
