Angel Reese scored 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Golden State Valkyries 79-65 in San Francisco on Monday, tying the best-of-seven WNBA Finals at 1-1.

Reese shot 10-for-16 from the floor and added three assists and two blocks, becoming the third player to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in a WNBA Finals game. Allisha Gray scored 18 points, while Jordin Canada finished with 13 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.

Atlanta took control in the second half and converted Golden State’s 19 turnovers into 24 points. Rhyne Howard set a Finals record with six steals, and rookie Izzy Borlase contributed a notable defensive play late in the first half. The victory was the Dream’s first in the Finals after three previous appearances without a win.

Gabby Williams led Golden State with 14 points but shot 3-for-15. The loss ended the Valkyries’ unbeaten run in regulation dating to an Aug. 21 defeat in Chicago.

The series now shifts to Atlanta, with Game 3 scheduled at State Farm Arena. The next two games were moved from the Dream’s 3,500-seat Gateway Center Arena to the larger venue, which holds more than 17,000 spectators.
