Rajinikanth’s *Jailer 2* grossed an estimated Rs 424.25 crore worldwide during its first four days in theatres, according to figures from industry tracker Sacnilk reported by The Indian Express.
The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action thriller, released October 15, earned an estimated Rs 199.90 crore net in India through Sunday. Its daily domestic net collections were Rs 59.70 crore on Thursday, Rs 37.10 crore on Friday, Rs 47.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 55.85 crore on Sunday. The film’s four-day India gross was estimated at Rs 234.25 crore.
Tamil screenings generated the largest share of Sunday’s business, collecting Rs 39.95 crore from 8,173 shows. The Telugu version earned Rs 9.50 crore, the Hindi version Rs 5.75 crore and the Kannada version Rs 0.65 crore. The Hindi-dubbed release faced restrictions after major multiplex chains reportedly declined to screen it amid a dispute over the interval between its theatrical and streaming releases.
The sequel returns Rajinikanth to the role of retired police officer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Its ensemble cast includes Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan, S.J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan and Mithun Chakraborty. Hrithik Roshan appears in a previously unconfirmed cameo as Roddy, an ally who helps Pandian. Sun Pictures produced the film, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
