Paris Saint-Germain ended Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the season with a 4-2 victory at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, securing their third win in three Champions League league-phase matches.
Desire Doue put the defending champions ahead in the 38th minute before Xavi Espart equalised for Barcelona after halftime. Lucas Hernandez restored PSG’s lead with a header in the 72nd minute, but Lamine Yamal brought Barcelona level again seven minutes later.
Vitinha struck from outside the penalty area in the 81st minute and Fabian Ruiz added a late tap-in to complete the win. Barcelona had entered the match with 11 consecutive victories across La Liga and the Champions League.
PSG produced 15 shots on target to Barcelona’s five, according to The Korea Herald, despite the visitors holding a slight advantage in possession. The victory left PSG alone at the top of the league-phase standings with nine points and 14 goals scored.
The result came at a cost for PSG, who lost Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos to injuries during the match. Barcelona’s Dani Olmo also left the field with an ankle problem.
Elsewhere, Liverpool recovered from two goals down to beat Villarreal 4-3 and maintain their perfect European record, while Phil Foden scored a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 5-1 victory over AEK Athens. Napoli defeated Bodø/Glimt 4-3, Roma beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0, and Atlético Madrid drew 1-1 at Stuttgart.
