An Austrian Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna made an emergency landing in Sofia late Sunday after a reported bomb threat, Bulgarian authorities and the airline said.
Flight OS82, an Airbus A320 carrying 51 passengers and six crew members, was approaching the Romanian border when the crew received the threat and diverted to the Bulgarian capital. Bulgaria’s air force sent a MiG-29 fighter jet to escort the aircraft, which landed safely about 30 minutes after the alert was raised.
All passengers and crew disembarked in Sofia, and no injuries were reported. Authorities searched the aircraft, passengers and crew while a crisis response team and investigators examined the incident.
Austrian Airlines said Monday that the searches found no danger. The passengers subsequently reboarded, and the flight continued from Sofia to Vienna the same night with everyone aboard.
