Early voting in Texas’ 2026 midterm elections began Monday, Oct. 19, with several North Texas counties reporting record first-day totals compared with previous midterm elections.
Dallas County recorded 76,079 ballots cast Monday, according to the county elections department. That surpassed both the 56,431 first-day ballots reported during the 2024 presidential election and the 32,605 recorded in the 2022 midterms, based on Texas Secretary of State data cited by NBC 5.
Tarrant County reported 50,409 ballots, up from 29,197 in the 2022 midterms but below the 58,487 cast on the first day of voting in 2024. Denton County recorded 34,739 ballots, more than 17,000 above its 2022 midterm total but lower than the 50,661 reported in 2024.
Collin County reported 34,522 ballots, about 15,000 more than in the 2022 midterms and nearly 10,000 fewer than in the 2024 presidential election.
Voting in parts of Collin County was disrupted Monday morning by ballot-printer problems. The county election commissioner said about 10 early-voting locations were affected and that service was later restored. Some voters told NBC 5 they were turned away or left because of delays. Officials did not specify how long the disruption lasted or how many voters were unable to cast ballots.
