President Bola Tinubu formally launched his campaign for re-election in 2027 at a crowded All Progressives Congress rally in Kaduna on Saturday, October 24.
Supporters began gathering at the Kaduna Township Stadium, also identified in reports as Ranchers Bees Stadium, late Friday, with some spending the night at the venue and on nearby streets to secure entry. By Saturday morning, the stadium’s seating areas and main bowl were packed, while more supporters gathered outside. APC governors, federal ministers, lawmakers and party officials attended.
Tinubu arrived in Kaduna with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and was received by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kaduna Governor Uba Sani and other party leaders. Security personnel from several federal and state agencies sealed off key locations and restricted movement on major roads, causing traffic disruption in parts of the city.
Addressing the rally, Tinubu asked Nigerians for another mandate and pledged to continue his administration’s economic policies and programmes. He urged supporters to mobilise voters for APC candidates at all levels in the January 16, 2027 election, while blaming previous administrations for economic problems including hunger and poverty.
Sani cited federal interventions in transportation, education, healthcare, agriculture and security as reasons Kaduna residents should support the president. After the event, former Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar and the Northern Youth Frontiers praised the turnout, describing it as evidence of strong mobilisation and support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
