The Golden State Valkyries defeated the Atlanta Dream 67-62 in Game 4 on Saturday, tying the best-of-seven WNBA Finals at two games apiece.

Gabby Williams scored a game-high 17 points for Golden State, while the Valkyries’ defense held Atlanta star Angel Reese to eight. Australia’s Izzy Borlase added 10 points for the Dream. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in San Francisco.

Atlanta had taken a 2-1 series lead with a 97-71 victory in Game 3. Reese led five Dream players in double figures with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, while Rhyne Howard scored 16 and Naz Hillmon added 15. Williams led Golden State with 15 points. The Valkyries erased a 10-point first-quarter deficit and tied the game at 48 early in the third quarter, but Atlanta answered with an 8-0 run and pulled away.

Reese’s Game 3 performance followed a 30-point, 16-rebound effort in Atlanta’s Game 2 win. Al Jazeera reported that she became the youngest player to post at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in consecutive WNBA Finals games, as well as the first woman to record double-doubles in each of her first three Finals appearances.

Both teams remained in their locker rooms during the national anthem before the games, continuing a practice followed by many WNBA teams for several years. The league suspended its anthem protocols in 2017.
