Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy *Udta Teer* recorded a sharp increase in domestic ticket sales on its first Saturday after a modest opening day.
The film earned an estimated Rs 7.25 crore net on day two, up 76.8% from Friday’s Rs 4.10 crore, according to figures cited by *The Indian Express*. Its two-day domestic total reached Rs 11.35 crore net and Rs 13.53 crore gross, while worldwide collections stood at Rs 16.28 crore. The film opened amid limited advance bookings and mixed reviews.
Directed by first-time filmmaker Akash A Kaushik, *Udta Teer* follows Bilal, a Pakistani spy played by Khurrana, who loses his memory after an explosion and comes to believe he is an Indian counterterrorism officer. Khan plays an officer unaware of his identity. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Raghubir Yadav and Supriya Pilgaonkar.
The Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment release had been postponed from October 9 to October 23. Nepalese authorities denied it permission for theatrical release, citing restrictions under the country’s cinema law.
Before the film’s release, Khurrana and Khan visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Dussehra to offer prayers. Khan shared a photograph from the visit, while a video circulated online showing her appearing emotional at the shrine.
