Mumbai police are investigating an October 18 shooting targeting actor Tiger Shroff’s car in the Juhu area. Shroff escaped without injury, while his driver, Firdous Ibrahim Baloch, was wounded in the hand and bystander Umesh Kumar Chauhan was struck by a bullet and taken to hospital.
The Mumbai Crime Branch recovered two firearms and 10 live cartridges in Surat, Gujarat, according to The Hindu. The weapons were sent for forensic and ballistic examination. Four accused were remanded in police custody until October 26, while three other men accused of involvement in the conspiracy were separately remanded until October 28, The Indian Express reported.
Delhi Police also arrested four people accused of supplying a pistol and ammunition used in the attack. Police alleged that two of them carried the weapon by train from Delhi to Mumbai before handing the bag to a minor. Rajasthan Police had earlier arrested three people in Kota in connection with the shooting.
Police have named Anil Pandit, described as an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as a wanted suspect. Pandit purportedly claimed responsibility in an audio clip shared online and said Shroff was targeted because of his association with actor Salman Khan. Authorities have not independently verified that claim.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti to investigate and act against those responsible. The state Transport Department has also sought information from bike-taxi company Rapido about a detained suspect who allegedly helped the attackers escape; Rapido said he was not active as one of its drivers at the time.
