Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi joined Instagram and X this week, using her first posts on both platforms to introduce her memoir, *Belonging: A Journey of Love*, due to be released by HarperCollins on November 10.
Gandhi made her Instagram debut on Thursday, October 22, sharing a video from her New Delhi office that showed the book’s cover. She described the memoir as a story of “love, duty, loss and finding a place to belong.” Her daughter, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was seen distributing sweets during the event. By Thursday evening, Gandhi’s account had attracted 145,000 followers, according to *The Indian Express*.
On Saturday, October 24, Gandhi joined X and posted a nearly two-minute video recalling how she met her husband, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, at the Varsity Restaurant, a Greek eatery in Cambridge. She said they were introduced by a mutual friend and soon began spending time together. The video also featured photographs of the couple and the restaurant.
The memoir had initially been expected to be published in India by Penguin Random House India, but the publisher withdrew following disagreements over proposed editorial changes and deletions. HarperCollins is now publishing the book.
