Israeli airstrikes killed five Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Monday, including a seven-year-old girl, according to medical officials and first responders.
Three people were killed when a strike hit a camp for displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, Gaza’s civil defence said. Nasser Hospital identified them as Hossam al-Zamli, Tamer Abu Sneima and Jouri al-Soufi. A strike on a tent near Khan Younis killed another person, while Al-Shifa Hospital said one person was killed and three injured in Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood.
Civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said 13 people had been killed and about 60 wounded by Israeli fire and airstrikes over the preceding 24 hours. Israel’s military told AFP it was unaware of military activity in Al-Mawasi on Monday.
The attacks followed strikes on Sunday that killed eight people, Middle East Eye reported, including three security guards at Gaza City’s Islamic University. The university suspended in-person classes for the rest of the week.
Separately, a UN commission of inquiry said Israel continued to commit “genocidal acts” in Gaza despite the ceasefire that began in October 2025. It said Israeli territorial control had expanded from 53% to at least 60% of Gaza and that fire near the Yellow Line had killed at least 196 Palestinians, including 43 children. Israel rejected the commission’s findings.
Gaza health authorities say more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began.
