Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher after suffering an apparent serious left leg injury late in Sunday night’s 108-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Williams was hurt on a drive to the basket with 1:14 remaining. His left leg gave way as he landed, and towels covered the injury as he was removed from the court. The team expects to learn more about his condition Monday, Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said.
“We’re not doing great,” Daigneault said after the game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 34 points, became emotional while discussing his teammate. “I just feel bad for him,” he said. “It’s obviously going to be tough without a player like that. But he’s not gone for ever. He’ll be back better than ever, and we know it. We’ve just got to hold the fort down until he comes back.”
The Thunder improved to 3-0 but also lost guard Cason Wallace to left shoulder soreness and forward Jaylin Williams to right wrist soreness during the first quarter. Neither returned to the game.
