House Democrats Seek Special Counsel Over Trump-Epstein Allegations

House Judiciary Committee Democrats called Monday for an independent special counsel to investigate President Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, releasing a staff report that compiles accounts involving 11 women and accuses the Justice Department of withholding Epstein-related records.
The report says five women directly accused Trump of rape or sexual assault while Epstein was present or involved. The allegations are disputed and have not resulted in criminal findings against Trump. The document reflects the conclusions of Democratic committee staff, not findings by the full committee or a court.
Among the accounts is a new allegation from former beauty pageant contestant Beatrice Keul, who told committee staff that Trump raped her in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City in 1993 after she encountered Trump and Epstein at a pageant event. Keul previously told the Daily Mail in 2024 that Trump had jumped on and groped her but stopped after she resisted. The Democratic report does not explain the difference between the accounts.
Democrats also alleged that the Justice Department obstructed scrutiny of Trump’s ties to Epstein and failed to release all records required by Congress. They said additional documents and sworn testimony should be pursued.
White House spokesperson Lauren Bis rejected the allegations, calling the report a partisan distraction. She said Trump had expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago and had been “fully exonerated of anything related to Epstein.” Trump has previously denied sexual misconduct involving women connected to Epstein and said he did not know about Epstein’s crimes.
