A United Nations commission of inquiry said Israel continued committing genocidal acts in Gaza after the US-brokered ceasefire of October 2025, allegations Israel rejected as part of a “misinformation campaign.”
The report, published Monday by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, examined alleged violations against Palestinian civilians from the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, through September 2026. It concluded that Israeli authorities continued acts carried out with “the genocidal intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinians in Gaza.”
The commission said Israeli forces used heavy munitions, drones, quadcopters, artillery and sniper fire in densely populated areas during the ceasefire. It also said the temporary “Yellow Line” demarcation had moved farther into Gaza and was becoming a de facto border reflecting expanding Israeli territorial control.
The inquiry reported a sharp deterioration in the occupied West Bank, attributing widespread and systematic attacks on civilians to Israeli military operations and sustained settler violence. It accused Israeli authorities and forces of crimes against humanity including extermination, torture, rape, other sexual violence and persecution.
Israel’s mission in Geneva rejected the findings and urged the international community to do the same. Ambassador Daniel Meron said the commission was seeking to undermine Israel’s legitimacy and deny its right to exist and defend itself.
