Early voting for Texas’ 2026 midterm elections began Monday, Oct. 19, with several North Texas counties reporting record first-day totals.
Dallas County recorded 76,079 ballots, up from 56,431 on the first day of the 2024 presidential election and 32,605 during the 2022 midterms, according to county and Texas secretary of state data cited by NBC 5. Tarrant County reported 50,409 ballots, compared with 29,197 in 2022 but below the 58,487 cast on the first day in 2024.
Denton County recorded 34,739 ballots, more than 17,000 above its 2022 figure but below the 50,661 reported in 2024. Collin County recorded 34,522 ballots, roughly 15,000 more than in 2022 and nearly 10,000 fewer than in 2024.
Ballot-printer problems delayed voting at about 10 Collin County locations Monday morning. Some voters said they were turned away or left because of the delays. The county election commissioner said service was later restored and that the problem was not countywide. The duration of the disruptions and the number of affected voters were not reported.
