Actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda submitted a complaint to Hyderabad cybercrime authorities on Monday seeking an investigation into alleged fabricated content, manipulated screenshots, impersonation and coordinated harassment targeting them online.
The complaint followed criticism of the couple after their October 21 appearance on *Koffee With Karan 9*. During the episode, they discussed their relationship and marriage, including Mandanna’s repeated requests that Deverakonda marry her. Some social media users subsequently described his conduct as disrespectful and labelled it a “red flag.” The couple married in February 2026.
In a statement reported by *The Indian Express*, the actors’ team said it had identified online publications and social media material containing allegedly false or misleading claims and had submitted links and supporting evidence to investigators. The team asked authorities to examine whether coordinated or paid campaigns were involved and said legal remedies could be pursued over individual posts or republications where warranted.
Mandanna separately rejected interpretations of their relationship based on edited clips and online speculation, calling some of the reaction “bullying dressed up as feminism.” She said the marriage discussion had been about giving both partners time to be certain, rather than the number of times she asked. Deverakonda also said the couple was happy and sharply criticised those attacking them. Earlier, he shared a satirical video mocking online analysis of their television appearance.
