Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday.
The booking puts the rapper and music executive onstage at an event his company helps produce. Roc Nation has worked with the NFL since 2019, advising on entertainment presentations including the halftime show, and will serve as executive producer for the 2027 performance. Hamish Hamilton will direct.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league reached its agreement with Roc Nation, he asked Jay-Z to perform “whenever the moment felt right to him.” Jay-Z previously said in 2019 that he was not entering the partnership to secure a Super Bowl performance.
“From *Reasonable Doubt* to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage.”
The announcement follows Jay-Z’s stadium concerts marking the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, *Reasonable Doubt*. That run concluded at SoFi Stadium after performances in New York, London and Paris.
Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards. His catalog includes *The Blueprint* and *The Black Album*, along with songs such as “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem),” “99 Problems” and “Empire State of Mind.”
