President Donald Trump has offered a $1 million reward for information about voter fraud in past U.S. elections or the upcoming 2026 midterms, with payment contingent on an arrest and conviction.
“Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud,” Trump wrote Monday on Truth Social. He later repeated the offer to reporters before traveling to a campaign rally in Mississippi, describing it as a “bonus or reward” for reports that lead to an arrest and conviction.
Trump did not say how the rewards would be funded. The White House had not provided further details in response to a request for comment reported by The Guardian.
The announcement comes ahead of the November midterm elections and follows Trump’s repeated claims of widespread voter fraud. Democratic state attorneys general have increased coordination over concerns about potential federal intervention in the elections, while California Attorney General Rob Bonta has accused the administration of politicizing efforts targeting alleged voting by noncitizens.
A smaller reward program was announced in 2020 by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who offered $25,000 for election-fraud tips. The first reported payout went to a Democratic poll worker whose information led to the conviction of a Republican voter who cast two ballots.
