Russia launched three waves of missiles at Kyiv hours after the Kremlin said it was ready in principle to resume trilateral talks with Ukraine and the United States.

The strikes killed at least two people and wounded 22, including four children, according to The Guardian. Civilian homes, energy infrastructure, office buildings, an ambulance station, a monastery and a bridge over the Dnipro River were among the reported targets. Attacks also struck 11 other Ukrainian regions, including Odesa, where the port was badly damaged.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 21 missiles were fired at Kyiv and argued that the assault showed Russia’s position on the war had not changed. He called for additional air-defense systems, Patriot interceptors and sanctions against Moscow.

The attack followed a nearly three-hour meeting in St. Petersburg between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. Kremlin foreign-policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said Putin had agreed in principle to restart talks involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States in mid-November. Moscow said recent Ukrainian and European proposals remained insufficient.

Ukraine also launched drones toward Moscow overnight. Russian authorities said they intercepted 163 drones, while two people were injured in the Russian capital, Al Jazeera reported.
