U.S. authorities have detained wanted Haryana gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria in Las Vegas after Indian agencies shared information about their location, according to Indian police officials cited by The Hindu and The Indian Express.
Haryana Special Task Force Inspector General Simardeep Singh confirmed the detentions. Indian agencies are coordinating with U.S. authorities to bring the two men back to India, with Haryana Police preparing to seek Bhau’s extradition. An Interpol red notice against Bhau was issued in August 2023.
Bhau, 23, is from Ritoli village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. Police allege that he escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in Hisar in 2020 and left India in 2022 using a passport obtained under a false identity. He later operated from abroad, allegedly directing extortion demands and attacks by associates in India through encrypted communications and social media.
Haryana Police sources said Bhau faces 64 criminal cases, including allegations of murder, attempted murder and extortion. The Haryana STF said it arrested 111 alleged members of his gang between January 2024 and August 2026.
Faridpuria, from Haryana’s Palwal district, faces more than two dozen cases involving murder, extortion and organised crime, according to The Hindu. The Indian Express reported that he had previously been detained and released on bail in the United States before removing an ankle monitor and evading authorities. Police link him to the Bambiha gang.
