President Donald Trump praised rapper Nicki Minaj’s appearance in explicit terms during a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where she endorsed Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections.
While discussing an earlier remark about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s physique, Trump told the crowd he had also seen “one hell of a beautiful ass” before naming Minaj and adding, “That’s hard to miss.” The Independent reported that Trump also asked the rapper to display her backside to the crowd.
Minaj, one of the rally’s final speakers, led chants supporting Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James. She told Trump it was “an honor to stand with you” and said, “If you run again, I will support you again.” The Independent also quoted her as saying she loved Trump and would support him “forever and ever.” The Constitution bars presidents from being elected to more than two terms.
White House communications director Steven Cheung later gave Minaj a tour of Air Force One and joked on social media that she could become the next White House press secretary, according to Rolling Stone.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul criticized Minaj’s political alignment on Wednesday, telling reporters that attending Trump rallies was “poisoning” the artist’s mind and suggesting she spend less time online.
