Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Indian Air Force’s “Wings over Ganges” air show at Namo Ghat in Varanasi on Sunday, October 25, as part of events commemorating the force’s 94th anniversary.
The final day of the three-day show featured aerial manoeuvres by fighter aircraft and display teams. Air Force officials said participating aircraft included the Sukhoi-30MKI, the indigenous Tejas and the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand. Three Kiran aircraft flew in a V formation displaying the colours of the national flag, while Mi-17 helicopters carrying the tricolour performed in an Omkar formation. The Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Sarang helicopter display team also took part.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied Modi at the event. Crowds gathered along his route from the police lines to Namo Ghat, where BJP workers and residents welcomed him with rose petals, music and cultural performances.
Earlier Sunday, Modi inaugurated a garment manufacturing facility operated by Arvind Ltd in Varanasi’s Mirzamurad area. Officials said the predominantly women-led facility is intended to create employment and support textile and apparel manufacturing in the region.
An official statement issued before the visit also said Modi would inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s new data centre and cybersecurity training institute in Bhubaneswar during his October 25 trip.
