Amazon unveiled five Alexa devices Wednesday, adding two new product categories and updating three existing Echo products. The lineup includes the Alexa Photo Frame, Echo Time smart alarm clock, Echo Dot, Echo Studio With Home Camera and Echo Show 16. All are available for purchase now.
The 10-inch Alexa Photo Frame starts at $199.99 in black, with birch and walnut versions priced at $229. Its semi-matte, anti-glare display is designed to resemble a printed photograph. Alexa+ can select images based on factors including lighting, smiles and the season while excluding screenshots and receipts, Amazon said. Users can attach voice notes to pictures, and Prime members receive unlimited Amazon Photos storage.
Echo Time costs $199.99, or $209.99 for a Kids version. Its optional sleep-sensing tools can detect lighter phases of sleep and wake users within a selected 10- to 60-minute window. The clock also offers a simulated sunrise feature.
Amazon also introduced a $100 Echo Dot with stronger bass, four microphones, Matter support and Thread border-router capability. The $250 Echo Studio is Amazon’s first smart speaker with a camera, allowing Alexa to use visual and voice recognition to identify users and personalize responses. The new $500 Echo Show 16 features an AI-generated Alexa interface.
The announcement coincided with Amazon’s decision to eliminate about 250 jobs in its devices and services unit, Reuters reported, citing a company spokesperson who described the reductions as “a small number of roles.”
