Anthropic filed papers Monday for a planned Wall Street debut that could take place next month, putting the Claude developer on course to go public ahead of rival OpenAI. Reports cited by several outlets said the offering could raise as much as $100 billion and value the company at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, although Anthropic has not disclosed the offering size or final terms.
The filing showed that Anthropic held $112.4 billion in cash and $19.3 billion in short-term investments as of June 30, according to CNBC. It also disclosed $321.4 billion in estimated future lease obligations and $265.6 billion in other fixed or minimum-guaranteed commitments, largely tied to computing infrastructure. Anthropic said agreements made or amended after June 30 added about $245 billion in minimum future payment obligations.
The company reported rapid revenue growth but remains under pressure from heavy infrastructure spending. Its first-half compute and infrastructure expenses totaled $8.95 billion. Anthropic also warned that growing reliance on data centers powered by private natural-gas plants could expose it to fuel-price volatility and supply disruptions.
The filing revealed that Anthropic’s seven co-founders, including siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, each own about 1.4% of the company. Prediction markets have attracted tens of millions of dollars in wagers on the IPO’s timing, exchange, fundraising total and debut valuation as investors await further offering details.
