Diljit Dosanjh opened the India leg of his Aura tour at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, performing before a crowd reported at nearly 70,000 despite heavy rain and extensive traffic restrictions.
Delhi Police granted permission for the concert after organisers agreed to additional security and traffic-management measures. The Indian Express reported that security was strengthened following a threatening email. About 2,000 private security guards were expected to be deployed, while vehicle movement was restricted around the stadium and no general public parking was provided.
Many concertgoers used public transport, and Delhi Metro extended service on most lines until midnight. The Hindu reported long queues at the stadium’s Metro station as fans arrived from across India and overseas, some wearing white turbans and kurta-pyjamas associated with the singer.
Dosanjh performed songs including “Morni,” “G.O.A.T.,” “Ikk Kudi,” “Naina” and “Case,” accompanied by choreography, pyrotechnics and drone imagery. He invited several audience members onstage, including a woman serving with the Central Reserve Police Force, and thanked Delhi Police, the CRPF and Delhi Metro for helping manage the event.
During the show, Dosanjh said some people had tried to prevent the concert from taking place. The event had initially faced clearance concerns related to security and traffic before permission was granted.
